Grey Lovely little album that evokes early 00s and 90s nostalgia for me while still sounding super fresh and crisp. Lovely call backs to bygone musical eras without coming across as derivative. I feel like I’m back in high school in the best way. Hard to pick a favorite song. Favorite track: She Gave Herself to the Scene.

Kirk Gauthier As someone who grew up on ‘90s and early ‘00s alternative rock, this album is very much “my shit.” Yeah, sure, the Great Moose has loads of metal and metal-adjacent releases in its catalogue, but let’s not forget that the golden age of alternative rock was born from the fusion of punk and metal with a more “radio-friendly” sound. If you were a fan of the early ‘00s emo scene, this album is for you. Reminds me of those early Get Up Kids albums and will have you pumping a fist as you sing along. Favorite track: Always Have.

If you’re like me, you might enjoy your punk tinged with just a touch of emo sensibility, your Baysides or, more relevantly, your American Goner. What You Left Behind manages to feel current and nostalgic. Bringing to mind growing up in a small town and everything that comes along with that. A genuinely lovely album and very unique to anything Syrup Moose Records has released thus far.
